What is the Difference Between Regular and Airbrush Makeup?

This is actually one of the most asked question I get from clients. I cannot emphasize enough that airbrush is definitely a must-have for brides and special events! Not only is it flawless looking both in person and in photos, it is also rub-resistant and water-resistant.

What kind of airbrush makeup do you use?

I use Temptu airbrush products. This not only includes foundation application but also blush, bronzer and highlight & contour.

Airbrush makeup is rub resistant and water resistant

Airbrush makeup makes it an ideal makeup choice for brides. Have a wedding during the hot summer months? Know your big day is going to be a teary one? Have faith that airbrush will survive all of those big moments.

Airbrush makeup can cover blemishes and problem skin such as cystic acne, birthmarks and port wine stains

I have helped so many clients over the years look flawless on their big day with airbrush makeup while looking super natural. It will provide very full coverage and photograph well!

It will even cover tattoos!

I have covered tattoos of all shapes, colors and sizes! With proper care, a tattoo cover can last over a day. This means it can be applied the night before a special event or wedding with proper care.

Removing airbrush makeup

Use a makeup remover such as an oil cleanser to take off any silicone -based airbrush makeup on your face.

For a tattoo cover, it is very important to first ONLY use rubbing alcohol to remove the alcohol based makeup using a cloth, then wash off thoroughly with a gentle body wash, and finally moisturize.

Hope that this answers all of your questions! Please reach out to me here if you have any other questions or would like to book any services.

A Makeup Artist's Advice For A Successful Wedding Trial

Wedding season is in full swing! I have worked on many brides in ceremonies big and small. Whether you are a bride with an upcoming wedding or helping a loved one plan their special day, here are some tips to get the most out of your trial.

1. Get airbrush makeup for the big day - it's worth it

Airbrush makeup is rub resistant and water resistant, which makes it more bulletproof for hot climates. It will be sure to survive the tear-jerking moments during your ceremony and will prevent makeup streaks from going down your face! We use Temptu brand airbrush makeup and it can cover up anything from birthmarks, tattoos, cystic acne and scarring without looking cakey. Make sure you exfoliate your face prior to your appointment and only use a small amount of moisturizer!

2. Bring a photo of yourself at a formal event

This will give your makeup artist an idea of your personal style and how you normally like to do your own makeup when you are getting ready for a special event.

3. Have a list ready for your artist of what you want and don't want

It's totally fine if you aren't exactly sure what you want yet for your big day, but come prepared with an idea of some looks that you are sure that you would be interested in. Also communicate with your artist on makeup looks and hairstyles you know you don't want to make an efficient use of your trial time. The more specifics you have as to what you want and don't want, the better chance you'll have a successful trial.

4. Bring photos!

Do you have a Pinterest board of your wedding details? Did you screenshot photos of the updo you want? Make sure to show these to your artist! Your wedding is all about you - they will want to know what smallest details matter to you to make this as much of a personal experience as possible. Show us what your bouquet will look like, and don't forget the dress, shoes and accessories!

5. Have everything prepared before your trial!

Communicate with your artist and start sending them your ideas and wedding details before the time of your trial. If you have an elaborate hairstyle, or a specific eye makeup look we want to be able to take the time to look at everything to be prepared for your appointment. Trust your artist! They are experts at what they do and their professional opinion will help you look picture perfect for your special day.

Favorite Products For Summer!

Here are some of my favorite beauty products that I absolutely love!

1. Theorie Argan OIl Ultimate Reform Shampoo and Conditioner

This is a great shampoo and conditioner for thin, dry and damaged hair. I received a good sized sample set from Folica.com when I ordered some hair tools. If you're like me and have been processing your hair with chemicals for many many years, your hair is probably in need of some TLC products. Both the Theorie shampoo & conditioner are sulfate free and contain argan oil, a natural conditioner. They leave my hair shiny, smooth, tangle-free and voluminous. The scent smells awesome, and I love the easy to use pump-bottle! I've tried other conditioners but this one is the best one I've ever tried to detangle my balayaged hair. The products are pretty concentrated so one bottle will last me a whole year for my shoulder-length hair.
Shampoo available here. Conditioner available here.

2. Nutiva Coconut Oil

This virgin coconut oil is non-GMO and organic! I normally use Perricone M.D. moisturizer, but seemed like they changed their formula and I was wanting to use something else on the fly. I opened up my kitchen cabinet and decided to use this coconut oil as an all-natural anti-aging moisturizer for the face and body. It could also be used as an ingredient for DIY hair masks and brown sugar scrubs. I also use coconut oil for cooking! So versatile! I love it!
Nutiva Coconut Oil comes in many sizes here.

3. Senna Slipcover Palette

For the professional makeup artist! This palette was originally developed to do Bette Midler's makeup in Gypsy, earning artist Eugenia Weston an Emmy. This oil-free foundation palette provides silky, buildable coverage and can be used wet or dry. You can trust this foundation to not break out your clients!

This over-sized bronzer comes in one universal shade: Tantric 102. The color is mostly matte, but has a slight sheen to it that adds a beautiful healthy glow. It is great for bronzing or contouring the face, and the large pan is also great for bronzing the body. For medium skin tones.

This is a BB cushion from the Korean brand The Face Shop. A BB Cushion is a compact that holds liquid product, which makes quick applications and on-the-go touch ups possible. This BB cream is SPF 50 medium to full coverage is sweat and water-resistant. It dries down to a semi-matte finish with a natural sheen. Great for summer!

8. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance

This is one of my favorite foundation primers! It is a great base to achieve a dewy skin look. Before foundation, I like to apply it everywhere on the face except for the T-zone. I use a mattifying primer on the T-zone instead. The radiance primer can be found here.
